Import
Bring data into the app from outside — a backup file, a broker statement or spreadsheet, or a ready-made demo portfolio. It lives under Settings → Import.

How to use
- Open Settings → Import.
- Pick what you're importing from the tabs at the top:
- Database — restore a full backup from a
.dbfile you exported earlier. - Broker / CSV — add past snapshots of your holdings (quantities and amounts, no buys or sells).
- Net Worth CSV — add just your daily net-worth figures over time.
- Demo Data — load a sample portfolio to explore the app.
- Database — restore a full backup from a
- Fill in the fields for that tab and submit.
For a CSV, set Mode to Append to keep what's already there, or Replace to clear that data first. Paste your rows into the CSV content box, then submit.
Good to know
- Restoring a database replaces everything, but the app keeps a server-side copy of your old data first, so you can roll back if needed.
- Broker / CSV isn't your transaction history. It records snapshots of each holding, not buys and sells, so nothing shows up in the History tab. Use Trade or a database restore if you want full history.
- Replace mode clears that data before importing — make sure that's what you want.
- Demo data wipes everything you have, so only load it on a fresh or throwaway setup. There's an Investor Portfolio and a simpler Family Overview to choose from.
- Got a broker statement or a spreadsheet in the wrong shape? The Broker / CSV tab has a Copy prompt button. Paste the prompt into ChatGPT or Claude along with your statement or spreadsheet, and it returns a CSV in the right format to paste back in.
- A header row in your CSV is optional. If you include one, it must contain all the expected columns, but they can be in any order; without a header, the values are read in the order shown in the box.
